A shed in Skryne, Co. Meath was accidentally set on fire, and the nearby oil tank was caught in the damage. The tank was badly scorched and partly deformed by the heat. Thankfully, the oil inside, around 400 litres, did not ignite.
The homeowner first brought in a company to deal with the fire damage and clean-up. Our part was to replace the damaged oil tank and make the setup safe again.
This was a lucky escape. The tank had not been leaking before the fire. It is hard to imagine how much worse this could have been if the tank had already been weak, cracked or seeping oil.
